Helpful Review: “The value of this knife is outstanding. It has a Real Wood handle, it is HAND Made, it has a longer knife blade than most if not all Trakker knives, and the shape is most Functional. It is very sharp right out of the box. It is packaged very well to protect it. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

A Big Deal to me is it has one of the best Finger Guards to protect you from an unforeseen accident. And it has Multiple holes to tie it to a stick (whether you would want to do this is irrelevant, it is an extra Option available).

Because of the price and shape of say the Tops Trakker, I never thought I would get this type of knife, but I love this one. What I mean by shape, is that the Tops curve in the front does not make the point very useful for any type of stabbing or point work in wood (at least not practical at all).

I like that this is not only Survival (Bushcrafty “is this a word”) but it is also Tactical / Defensive in its shape. And it is not too heavy. I also like the Sheath (Real Leather and very thick), but I will have to add my own Belt loop / connection so I can also have the option to carry it vertically.

I also like that it is D2 (tool steel), for some what stainless, easy to sharpen, holds an edge respectfully (of course not like 3V, but usually better than 1095). I am not a fan at all of 1095 steel. It rusts very easy and it does not hold an edge very long.

In fact I own only one ESEE knife and I got it in S35VN (love this steel). Every knife will usually at some point be used with food preparation, so I do not like knives that have the rust resistant coatings that scrape off into everything.

Hence, another reason I love this BIGCAT Tracker with D2 Steel that does not need a coating. The Only coating I do like is the DLC (like on the Cold Steel knives [usually with the CTS-XHP or S35VN], not there old black painted coating).

CTS-XHP another good steel but because of Expense and Lack of availability most manufacturers seem to have given up on it. But I like S35VN a little better than CTS-XHP for the little more of toughness. Anyway, all my opinion for what that is worth.” -Marko

A Few Words From A Friend: “The pictures on Amazon were great but when I got the actual product in the mail it was even better. The handle was very comfortable to the hand and the walnut was absolutely beautiful. The edge was sharp and clean and you can see the Damascus markings throughout the entire cutting edge indicating authenticity.

The overall appearance was that of a knife to be envied. I purchased the knife in July 2019 and it has held up well showing no defects in workmanship over a short time. I am very pleased with this purchase and would eagerly recommend it to my closest friends. I only have one regret. I purchased only one.

I have seen other reviewers make complaints such as the knife gave way while I was digging rocks out of the ground or the knife came with a coating of oil or grease on it. A little more investigation would help people understand that a hunting type knife is not designed to dig rocks out of the ground. A higher carbon steel retains an edge longer but in exchange the metal may be more ridged. Just a matter of the right tool at the right time.

A layer of oil or grease is sometimes put on a knife to prevent damage or any possible rusting of the product during shipping, transit or storage time. It appears that the manufacturer is proud of his workmanship and has taken the time to protect it.

I feel that anyone making this purchase will be pleased with their decision for years to come.
By the way, the leather sheath is equally impressive.” -Maya

Helpful Review: “As someone who has always been fascinated by traditional knives and their craftsmanship, I recently purchased the Handmade Damascus Bowie Knife and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with its quality and performance.

Firstly, the knife is beautifully designed with a genuine Damascus steel blade that is both sturdy and sharp. The blade has a unique pattern that catches the light and adds an artistic element to the knife. Additionally, the handle is made of high-quality wood that fits comfortably in the hand, and gives the knife a rustic, traditional look.

What sets this knife apart from others is its reliability and durability. I have used it for various outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and hunting, and it has never failed me. The blade holds its sharpness exceptionally well, making it easy to cut through even the toughest materials.

Moreover, the knife comes with a leather sheath that is equally well-crafted and helps to protect the blade. The sheath has a loop that can easily be attached to a belt, making it convenient to carry around.

In conclusion, the Handmade Damascus Bowie Knife is a must-have for anyone who appreciates traditional craftsmanship and quality. Its design, reliability, and durability make it a valuable addition to any collection, and its performance will not disappoint. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and beautifully crafted knife.” -Robert Pitts

My Cousin’s Review: “I give it a 4, I only wanted a big bowie knife and have me some EDC knives, and some good ones for camping, I’ve found the perfect one already. But as for a bowie knife, hunting knife not yet, none are razor sharp as they claim, they only have “hotspots” like only one part of the knife blade is VERY SHARP, the edge(End) and some random spot on the blade slicing area.

Since its 12″ blade I love the design so called DAMASCUS steel but over how many layers did it claim? 144? 288? I forgot but this is most likely just folded steel that is dipped in damascus acid etching style. Basically dipped the knife into a DAMASCUS acid thingy liquid and it stays on the blade.

The real way to make damascus steel is lost in history forever but, this knife back to it the sheathe is okay. Every time I oil this blade and put back in the sheathe it gets un oiled within a day without me even touching the blade lol. But its fun to maintain your blades everyday I guess, overall I think I’m returning this blade, I’m going to find a probably longer at least 15-20″ bowie knife for protection in the woods or just protection overall if I had to use it.

Once again EVERYONE YOU MUST MAKE THE ENTIRE BLADE RAZOR SHARP SO SHARP ITLL CUT PAPER LIKE CHEF KNIVES SHARP!!!!! Not just one spot sharp but the ENTIRE BLADE PLEASE!!! Its impossible to find a blade on here that is RAZOR SHARP EVERYWHERE and can cut paper continuously and consistently STRAIGHT.

Anyways for the price of this blade I’d say its worth it if you use it for maybe camping, skinning animals that you hunt and thats about it you know? For protection well any knife can work and this is bigger than the average knife so yes you can use this for protection indeed.

Also has a paracord handle hole but its so small I had to use a needle to fit mine in. It also has the metal part of the blade at the end of the handle so you can use it as a GLASS/WINDOW BREAKER(AWESOME FEAUTURE I WISH ALL KNIVES HAD THIS)
Also the Damascus pattern is nice rather it be real or not.

So TLDR: WORTH FOR THE PRICE 1 STAR OFF BECAUSE HOTSPOT RAZOR SHARP BLADE NOT ENTIRE BLADE SHARP.

WHAT I LIKED THE PARACORD HOLE(ALITTLE SMALL THOUGH) METAL HANDLE(USED FOR WINDOW/GLASS BREAKER) Damascus style blade looks nice. Also handle is well made and easy to hold.

What I DISILKED: not razor sharp only a hotspot sharp. The hole for paracord is a little too small also, not big enough to fit paracord easily(550) anyways. But it still works if you push it through hard!” -Sam

Helpful Review: “The knife I got pretty much matches what is shown in the pictures, albeit, a bit different since the technique to give the blade design will vary where the “waves” are located on the blade. I honestly could not tell you if the knife is of true Damascus steel, and I’m not willing to actually shave my blade down and put it in acid to check.

Regardless, from what I can tell, the blade is of high quality in terms of craftsmanship. Along with this, the blade is very sharp upon first opening. Also, the blade does not bend. I did put a bit of force on it, and there was only minimal bending as you’d see with pretty much any long-quality knife. Further, the metal on the handle also has the same “wave” design. For me, the handle was a good fit to hold.

The knife also came with a pretty good leather sheath, actually a typical one I’ve seen with the big hunting knives I currently have. The leather design on my sheath was a bit different from the one advertised, but to be honest, I did not buy the knife for the sheath. The overall design of the sheath is the same as advertised, and I have used this type of sheath while hunting and never had problems with it.

For those scared of getting this knife shipped due to living in humid weather, I can say at least on my end that the blade was packaged well for the journey. It came in a box, the entire set was wrapped in bubble wrap, and the knife was also wrapped in plastic while in the sheath.

Along with this, the knife had some sort of solvent coating the blade and wood to prevent water damage. Further, the box was in an Amazon plastic bag. So overall, I see little chance of the blade rusting in delivery assuming all the above packaging requirements are met.

I do intend to use this knife, so I will come back to update this review when I do to give my overall take on the piece. Regardless, it is a very nice knife and I’d definitely buy it if one is into collecting cool-looking knives. Until stress tests are done, the five-star rating is deserved based on looks and ergonomics.” -Stanley

A Few Words From My Uncle: “The Damascus steel blade and hilt/grip pieces were very attractive and untarnished for the most part, and the pattern was uniform. The grip and hilt pieces feel solid with no play, and seem to be cleanly attached. Construction seems great for the price.

Now for the negatives: There were a few scratches visible on one side of the blade, however, that I imagine were made during the sharpening process. These were light scratches that were not always visible unless the light hit them right, but you could feel them with a fingernail if you knew where to try.

The outer edge/corner of the top of the hilt also had some dings that you could easily feel by running a finger over the edge. The bigger wooden grip section had a sizeable crack in the wood that had been filled in with epoxy coating. I don’t know if that is a real weakness that could one day fail, but visually it doesn’t look as good as solid wood to me.

Since this was a gift and the receiver didn’t care about those imperfections, I did not return the knife. Overall, for the price I think it is a good deal. It would have gotten returned by my picky self, however.” -Shaad

Helpful Review: “Shipped oiled and very sharp. Utilized it out of the gate to chop kindling for a fire at our campsite. Works well. Well balanced for its purpose.

Handle could be larger for a man such as myself with a very large grip. The sheath is decent, but the button areas are a bit weak.
Overall, very happy with the knife and its quality.” -Edward Travis

Trending Review: “This style of knife has always been my “dream” to own. It may not be the OFFICIAL Tom Brown Tracker version, but the only difference between the two is about $150. It’s perfect for use as a hunting knife or just as an EDC.

I personally hook it to my belt on my back right side & surprisingly it isn’t uncomfortable to have on while driving or sitting. I was a little skeptical if it would be as good as the pics show & the price is even better.” -Brandon

My Friend’s Review: “First : the blade. Its a nice blade but seems mass produced. There is a thick paint covering the metal. What I thought was a saw in the spine of the blade is more decorative than useful.

Second: the sheath. The sheath is my favorite of the 2. However it’s missing something. I know the pocket is designed for a sharpening stone, however I wish it fit a small tin. I would prefer a waterproof tinder carrier for fire instead of a stone.” -Nathann

Reassuring Review: “Good tracker knife for the price. Handle is almost comfortable for big hands. Blade is solid. I did have to sharpen it myself, for my own tastes, but its somewhat sharp when it comes to you.

Sheath is decent, I did cut off stone holder cause it doesn’t come with a stone, its also less bulky without stone holder. Its a little heavy, which is good, for strength and momentum. Obviously a genuine Tom Brown would be the best, but for the price you cant go wrong with this knife as a starter. ENJOY!!” -Maad

Helpful Review: “I understand it would take me time and money to build this knife myself. Great price. It looks good if you don’t mind the fo-horn handle. The dark coloring is just burned on from a torch, not natural. And I had to trim off some excess glue with my finger nail when I got it.

My intention was to buy a sweet looking strait blade belt knife under 7-inches. I think next time I’ll be forking out the money for real horn, then I can be feel good about wearing it in public. Good one for the tackle box.” -Patrick E. Lowe

A Few Words From Neighbor: “I have a small knife collection. Many go back to the Old Timer, Buck & Henry pocket and skinning knives made in the USA (70’s 80’s). Then they all started pumping them out of China. This skinning knife is made in Pakistan but of decent quality.

Nice weight and small size fits my larger hands just fine. I like the overall length of package when in sheath. Nice compact but full tank knife. Had decent edge but knife mfgs are not in habit of shipping real sharp knives anyway.

Nice straight edge which will polish up nicely with leather strop for fine edge. Purchasing 2nd one for keeping in my truck. Handle was a nice color as well.” -Keejo

Reassuring Review: “Grandson loved it good price very sharp when it arrived, not USA made for those that care but a very nice everyday carry. I have hundreds of knives many that are vintage collectibles. I also bought him a Schrade (Old Timer) sharp finger about the same price, not American made anymore but still great quality for the price and extremely sharp.

I feel most new knives will need to be sharpened as the factory edge is not as sharp as it should be and I did whet the Bone collector a few strokes on ceramic and leather for a shaving edge.” -Teresa H Martin

Helpful Review: “I did not buy this knife for much real or hard use. I bought it for its beauty and to add to my collection. That doesn’t mean it might not be used at some point.

I gave it a 3 star in craftsmanship for four main reasons that are pictured. Because none of the craftsmanship issues effected the working ability of the knife I chose not to rate it lower. There were tooling marks on one of the dark handle sections. When you look at the spine of the knife the bone and black colored sections don’t align evenly.

Also, when you look at the spine the metal isn’t perfectly straight or even. Where the handle and heel of the knife meet the workmanship is pretty rough and unfinished. Any craftsman or artisan who takes any amount of pride in their work would not overlook these types of details in their work. Despite these craftsmanship flaws it is still a lovely knife.

I will say that from other reviews I had read I expected it to be much worse than it is and was prepared to package it back up and return it. The different color sections of the handle align smoothly and neatly with the brass sections that separate the different colored sections.

The brass rivets/pins are smoothly, neatly and evenly ground and aligned in the handle. I love the Damascus look of the blade. I may never know if it is real Damascus because I may never give it serious use.

I know the price and value of a truly good knife. For the money I spent I got about what I can expect. I have no real complaints. It has a sharp edge. There are no burrs or obvious flaws in the edge. It is riveted full tang and feels pretty sturdy. I like the heavy leather taco style sheath.

I like the feature that offers the option of carrying a striker. Looking at the striker sheath, I’m not sure if there is enough room in it for a striker, but it looks nice. The stitching on the sheath is evenly and well done with heavy duty thread. It has a double row of stitching.

I like that the knife came in a plastic bag with oil in it. The oil wasn’t overdone, just enough to make sure the knife was in an environment that didn’t promote corrosion and offered additional protection.” -Zast

My Nephew’s Review: “I have fixed blades, and folder knives valued over $800.00 ( Did not pay that for them, they have increased in value since purchased ). Took a chance on this knife because I liked the blade profile, size, and handle design.

Not certain what steel is used, but it comes sharp out of the box ( I’m guessing 440c ). I used my leather strop to get it to scary sharp. Size is perfect for a full grip with a decent sized blade. Knife weighs 6.9 oz. without sheath. Approximately 8” total length, handle is 4” blade is 4”. Very solid full tang construction.

The handle is very nicely done with decorative brass pin. Fit and finish is nicely done. For under $25.00 it’s a keeper, and a steal.” -Mian

A Few Words From My Friend: “I absolutely love that you tell that its hand made! It’s solid and beautiful! Especially for this price, you just can’t beat it. I will be looking at other products to buy from these folks soon. I’m very pleased. The sheath is pretty good too. My only concern is the belt strap cause I’m pretty hard on things but otherwise looks and feels well made. Thank you!” -Gindetty

Helpful Review: “As soon as you hold this item in your hand you can tell it is well made. The Damascus steel is beautiful and the design is simple. I love the shape of this blade.

The walnut handle is nice, as well as the leather case, however the leather pouch broke off within days of being delivered. The leather pouch is too small for a sharpening stone anyway and apparently for a fire starter. You don’t want to get this knife or the case wet however.

You will quickly notice rust begin to develop as there is iron ferrous in the steel. Also the leather will get all slimy, so try to keep it dry. I plan to get another one from this distributor for my cousin because we both love this knife.” -Seth W

Trending Review: “This knife with the options I requested is of very nice quality. The knife was sharp out of the box and the handle is nice, fits my hand well, (I have large hands). The steel looks great and will obviously need to be kept with oil or clearcoat with acid etch.

The sheath is nice, meant for an horizontal body strap or to a pack. It has the notches I need to create kindling and sharp edges for other functions. This is a tool, the shape isn’t really made for cutting meat but could if you need to. Overall, very nice knife. I’m pleased.” -Neil Reynolds

Critical Review: “You really do have to be realistic with sub two hundred dollar handmade Damascus knives. It’s not going to be perfect, it’s going to have janky bits and rough bits… This was no different.

The handle had a few jagged wooden spots where it was really rough, nothing unexpected for forty bucks. But the full tang had jagged sharp edges sticking out one side. If you actually tried to swing this knife or use it as a camping tool it would have hurt me. Booboo not emergency room…

Again that could have been fixed with a dremel and some epoxy fill. I almost look at these knives as “kit knives” they’re fat chunks of actual Damascus steel with sub par handles and usually pretty bad sheaths.

But speaking of the sheath this is where I started the return process and it’s entirely my fault. I didn’t know you couldn’t wear tracker knives on your hip gunslinger style. That’s how I wear all my sheathed knives. Right hand draw. This sheath only let’s you wear it blade up strapped to a belt. Usually in the small of your back as it’s too awkward to wear on your side on the right to pull out and the left side is just useless for being able to remove the knife.

The blade itself was lovely. Came oiled. Was actually surprisingly (machine) sharp out of the box. I really liked the *design* of this knife and the fit in my hand. Again the flaws it had were to be expected at this price point, realistically… The sheath was a no-go though. Keep that in mind if this is your first tracker Knife that these by and large come with “strap it in the small of your back only” sheaths.” “-Sam

Helpful Review: “Had this for about 6 months. I actually use this just as much if not more than my 8” chef knife. Jap steel keeps its edge for long time. Handle is gorgeous and super comfortable – but also just heavy enough to have a good grip even for my big hands.

Highly recommend this for Anyone regardless of how much they cook – though this is NOT good for meal preps, you still need a chef knife of some kind – look into a Santoku, I love mine. I use this for small prep stuff like I’m making a single dish for me and just need to cut some stuff up real quick and don’t need to bring out the heavy duty chef knife to cut up a few peppers and onions to toss into a pan.

Or I chop up leftover meats real quick into small portions for eating or cooking more. Best value for a QUALITY jap steel utility knife that looks gorgeous. ” -Zach Glickson

A Few Words From My Son: “Make sure you get the true Damascus version. It’s a great value. I also got the fake Damascus by mistake but it was nice enough to out with BBQ. But this true Damascus blade has a great edge. Good balance.

It compares to knives I’ve owned costing twice as much. It came razor sharp but I still sharpened it to see if it would take a new edge and it did, very well. Happy with purchase.” -Mike

Trending Review: “This knife arrived razor sharp. It’s very light compared to typical premium Japanese knives but I don’t see that as a downside. Seems to have an excellent edge and if it retains that edge with regular sharpening over time it’s a winner… especially at its amazing value.

The steel seems to be a very high-quality. The only weird thing is why they refer to this as Damascus steel. First off the actual steel in this knife is far better than Damascus steel and second all mass produced Japanese knives with patterning have that pattern stamped into them. It’s not from traditional steelmaking” -Anthony

Additional Review: “For years I had been using my grinder to sharpen kitchen knives. I suddenly realized none of them would even slice a tomato soon after sharpening. This knife slices everything [except bones of course] better than I ever was able & with such ease.

The slices are effortless & produce much thinner slices than I have been able to do my entire life. I have become an overnight chef in my own kitchen! I can’t say enough superlatives about this product.” -Sonu

Helpful Review: “I’m a bit fussy about my knives, but this one is just about perfect. The craftsmanship is outstanding, the blade geometry is excellent for the thickness of the blade, and it fits like it was tailored for my very large hands. truth be told, I was really stunned by this knife over all.

It’s much larger and heftier than I thought it was going to be, and the handle material if just beautifully assembled. The sheathe is going to take some time and conditioning to get it softened up a bit, but that is to be expected. If you want a knife that works as good as it looks…this is the one.” -Frank Johnson

Trending Review: “This knife is perfect, the size and width of the blade is exactly what you need in a bush knife. Far too many of these knives get way out of control with knife length, but they forget about blade, thickness, and purpose. I would have no problems with skinning, but this knife is meant for notching wood, Shaping posts, and other campsite duties.

When you are looking for knives, you need to think about purpose. You have your pocket knife that should be able to skin, open, and do the tedious work with a really sharp blade. You then need a knife like this one that can do everything but excels in the work you don’t want to put your pocket knife through.

I have already tested this knife on two different camping trips and I love it. I just really wish they would have made a Kydex sheath.” -Burnpit

Reassuring Review: “I bought this as a Christmas present but couldn’t help unboxing it to take a look. Was very nice knife the steel was beautiful nice and sharp, it came slightly oiled wrapped in wax paper the wood handle was beautiful as well didn’t feel cheap or throw together was extremely pleasant to hold didn’t look at the sheath a whole lot seems to be a good sheath vut wasn’t my focus .

Nice enough that I would consider getting my self one For my birthday 4 of 5 because I didn’t get to use the knife at all nit mine to make the first cut with.” -Beem Family

A Few Words From My Cousin: “Taking this knife out of the box was like Christmas. It looks good in the sheathe but even better out of it.

True craftsmanship in the steel and the grind. I was very happy with how even the grind is, this person had skill. The knife is razor sharp and has earned a place on my belt but could have gone on the wall as a showpiece. Very pleasantly surprised, great job. ~Cheers” -Sah-Weet

Helpful Review: “My first impression right off the cuff was the quality of the build. Not only for the sheath, but the blade and handle as well.
I put this to daily use since I got it in March and still to this day it sees use. Even under abuse this knife has still impressed me.

The factory edge is machined, its does not come honed out of the box, but, it is indeed sharp enough to slice and chop. I was able to hone the edge with an hour on my stones and ceramic block. Now it’ll shave. The handle is well made and pinned properly. Superbly done on their end.

The leather sheath is by far the best I’ve had with a cross draw, even though the line they used to see it all together has been cut at the back end and up front where it inserts. I expected that because of how many times I pull it out and put it back. The leather has also been sliced into front the constant use. Again, I expected these to happen. The pocket also holds a zippo tightly, which is a plus for me. I dont like using small honing stones anyway so this was a pleasant discovery.

The knife does fit loosely in the sheath and will slide forward exposing just enough of the blade to knick your finger, so be aware of that. I’ve not had one moment where the button snaps have failed, they’re reliable in situations where you experience snagging either in the woods or doing work.

My personal experience with this set up is 100% positive. This knife is worth the money in my opinion. It even throws well if you know how to properly throw a knife. The balance is superb. I highly recommend this knife. Plus..there’s no saw toothed spine..solid and smooth, yall..get it.” -Nicole

A Few Words From My Uncle: “First off, the shipping method gets a F. The package was crushed because it was in a envelope not a box. However, the product wasn’t damaged. My first impressions with the knife where, I feel like the sheath itself is worth $60 bucks.

I love the blade style and the quality of the knife including the handle fit and finish is excellent. The tool is very comfortable and comes sharp out of the box. Unfortunately, after preforming a few quick small tasks that I feel are ecental the blade quickly dulled and formed a small roll.

The good news is after touching it up with a diamond rod it was sharp again very quickly. Overall I’m very happy with this product for the price.” -Preston McDowell

Trending Review: “I love the knife, But when I received it, the blade at the very tip had what looked like rust on it! The tip had punched through the rubber shipping protection and had rust spots on each side the size of a pencil eraser.

Luckily I have a very nice set of wet stones and after the third time around with the finest stone and buffing for an hour or so I returned the blade to its mirror finish. So, if I had the chance to re-order another hunting knife from else where, I would not, I would still stick with you guys! I do love this blade and although it took some time and work to get it back to brand new, I would do it again. Thank You “D”. ” -Dani
